Error Codes

When the device encounters a problem, it displays an error code. Use this reference to diagnose and resolve issues.

Error Codes

CodeCauseSolution
Err10Battery too lowReplace or recharge batteries
Err15Target out of rangeMove closer to target or use within rated range
Err16Signal too weak / measurement timeoutUse a more reflective target surface or reflector
Err18Signal too strong (saturated)Use a less reflective target or add distance
Err26Calculation out of display rangeMeasure target within valid range

Solutions:

  1. Connect USB charger (5V/1A) and wait for full charge
  2. Replace with fresh NI-MH rechargeable batteries
  3. Do not use alkaline batteries if charging via USB

The target is beyond the device’s maximum measuring distance.

Solutions:

  1. Move closer to the target
  2. Check your model’s maximum range:
    • S60: 60m / S80: 80m / S100: 100m / S120: 120m
  3. For long distances, use a laser target plate

The laser beam isn’t returning enough light to the sensor.

Common causes:

  • Target surface is too dark or absorptive
  • Target surface is too far away
  • Strong ambient light (sunlight) overwhelming the sensor
  • Measuring angle too steep

Solutions:

  1. Use a white or light-colored target
  2. Use a laser reflector/target plate
  3. Shade the target area from direct sunlight
  4. Move closer to the target
  5. Measure perpendicular to the surface

The reflected laser is saturating the sensor.

Common causes:

  • Very reflective surface (mirror, polished metal)
  • Target too close
  • Retroreflective material

Solutions:

  1. Cover reflective surfaces with paper or cloth
  2. Increase distance from target
  3. Angle the device slightly off-perpendicular

The calculated result exceeds display capacity.

Common causes:

  • Pythagoras calculation with invalid inputs
  • Legs longer than hypotenuse in indirect measurement

Solutions:

  1. Verify your measurement geometry
  2. Ensure right angles are truly 90°
  3. Re-measure within valid parameters

  1. Check battery installation (correct polarity)
  2. Charge batteries via USB
  3. Try fresh batteries
  1. Clean the laser lens
  2. Verify reference point setting
  3. Check for interfering reflections
  4. Use a tripod for stability
  1. Ensure device is powered on
  2. Enable phone Bluetooth
  3. Restart the Huepar app
  4. Unpair and re-pair the device
